Poodle Grooming
You did it! You bought a standard poodle, now be prepared for the long life ahead full of coat maintenance. If you’re planing on sending your poodle pup to a professional groomer, go ahead and find that groomer. Dogs and especially poodles need to be groomed on a regular basis. Your poodle needs to be groomed at the least every 8 weeks but i recommend every 4-6 weeks and baths/hygiene trims in between. Line brushing daily. All of my poodles are on a weekly or bi weekly bathing schedule. Let’s talk ears…ears are a big thing in poodles that gets overlooked. Ears should be flushed and cleaned weekly. Ear plucking is your personal preference and what works best for the dog. I personally don’t pluck the ear hair as I think it opens up the pores and allows moisture to come through (which you don’t want). Instead, flush weekly and trim the hair sticking out. Keep it clean, also consult with your groomer.
